ADONIJAH'S FEAST BY EN-ROGEL
The Spring of En-Rogel
Adonijah’s feast was held somewhere near En-rogel. This is a historic view of the water well; the well was located in the dilapidated building on the right.

The Mothers of Adonijah and Solomon
The name of Adonijah's mother is Haggith, meaning 'festivities'. Ironically, Adonijah son of Haggith (festivities) holds a feast in this chapter (1 Kings 1:41). Also of interest, the name of Solomon's mother is Bathsheba, meaning 'daughter of the oath'. This chapter discusses an oath made to Bathsheba about Solomon.

Key Places in 1 Kings Chapter 1
Click the info buttons to see the approximate locations of En-rogel (1 Kings 1:9), the Gihon Spring (1 Kings 1:38-40), and David’s palace in Jerusalem.
Given the proximity of En-rogel and the Gihon Spring, it is hardly surprising that Adonijah’s guests heard Solomon’s coronation (1 Kings 1:41)!
