Mount of Beatitudes

by Matt Wright | 7 Jul 2022 | Bible Places, Israel, Picture of the Week

If you were to climb the Mount of Beatitudes, step into a time travel machine and jet back about 2000 years, you might find yourself sandwiched in a great crowd. According to tradition, this slice of greenery is the very location where Jesus delivered his famed Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7).

Nowadays the hill features a beautiful garden overlooking the Sea of Galilee. Also on-site is a Roman Catholic church. Built in the 1930s, it was partially funded by Benito Mussolini (the Italian dictator!).
